   “The Beatles.”, came the reply. “‘Across the Universe’, that’s the song title. My mother used to sing bits and pieces of it when I was little, her version of a lullaby.”

   Yunho smiled and tilted his head closer towards the comms device to hear Jaejoong better. “I think the only lullaby my mother knew was the one that had ‘twinkle, twinkle…’” 
   
   “…little star, how I wonder what you are?” Jaejoong chuckled, the static crackling in unison. “Have you ever wondered what the sky was like? Before the Great Waste? Stars, blue skies…” 
   
   Yunho had dreamed of it, of the earth that his ancestors had lived in - of trees, of  mountains, of glass cities that sparkled in the sun - and he yearned for it. But as he looked across the desert, that dark and cold expanse, and thought of Jaejoong sitting in a bunker much like his own - breathing in the same air, feet planted on the same ground - he didn’t mind so much. 
   
   “Blue skies, Jae? Hmm, tell me more.”
